I have a senior dad with health challenges, and I lost my mom 10 years ago. I find it emotionally hard at times care-taking a young child and watching out for my dad. What is your experience in this arena?

Currently, we have two dads, my dad and my husband's dad, with health issues, my mom has health issues, and our child has some health issues. I have some too, so balancing them all has been quite interesting. For my family of origin, I've tried to ask my older sister to assess what was really happening (my mom can exaggerate). I flew down last year when my dad had brain surgery, and my sister has been able to visit twice this year.
When my f-i-l went into the hospital with seizures last year, my m-i-l said to us, "You are the sandwich generation." My husband looked at her and said "Thank you for being the bread." In some ways, we look at it as a challenge and in another way, we see it as a blessing to be able to give. Each day can be an adventure, to be sure!
I wish I had better words to share. It really can be a difficult balance.
