Dividing her professional career years between nonprofit management and investigative newspaper reporting, Melissa Swedoski thought she was well informed on the chaos that everyday life contains. What she didn’t know was that real chaos was having a baby two weeks shy of her 41st birthday, followed by another one three months after her 42nd birthday.
Describing herself as “Mumbling through the mayhem of marriage and motherhood,” the journey of motherhood later in life has fueled her quirky sense of humor and off kilter perspective on life. Married to a man 13 years her junior, the couple battled their way through owning a small business, infertility issues and then the surprise of another pregnancy that doctors had said wasn’t even possible.
Although never daring to call herself an expert on anything other than chocolate, Melissa, 43, is now a SAHM to two girls aged 2 and 1, turning her investigative eye on the mishaps and misadventures of parenting and the marathon that is marriage, always with the emphasis on humor and love.
