ROBIN’S SHOW RECOMMENDATION: Priscilla Queen of the Desert

Following critically acclaimed productions in Australia, London and its North American debut engagement in Toronto, PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT THE MUSICAL is now playing on Broadway at The Palace Theatre.

The splashy musical stars Tony Award® nominee Will Swenson, Olivier Award nominee Tony Sheldon and triple threat (singing/dancing/acting), super-talented Nick Adams as the trio of friends on road trip of a lifetime who hop aboard a battered old bus searching for love and friendship in the middle of the Australian outback and end up finding more than they envisioned.

The bus quickly gets a hot pink facelift as the journey unfolds, and it’s 2.5 hours of campy fun that unexpectedly pulls at your heartstrings….especially if you’re a mom (you’ll see what I mean…don’t want to give the storyline away).

Featuring a score of over 20 dance-floor classics and with a dazzling array of more than 500 outrageous costumes (the best I’ve ever seen on Broadway), you’ll want to be on your feet throughout whether dancing or cheering.  It’s an upbeat, high energy show that makes for a hugely entertaining girls night out!  It’s a feel good experience, with a theme of acceptance that packs a punch.

PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT THE MUSICAL also features C. David Johnson (“Bob”), “Divas” Jacqueline Arnold, Anastacia McCleskey and Ashley Spencer, James Brown III (“Jimmy”), Nathan Lee Graham (“Miss Understanding”), Mike McGowan (“Frank”), J. Elaine Marcos (“Cynthia”), Jessica Phillips (“Marion”), Luke Mannikus (“Benji”), Steve Schepis (“Farrah”), Keala Settle (“Shirley”) and Thom Allison, Kyle Brown, Bryan West, Tad Wilson, Joshua Buscher, Gavin Lodge, Ellyn Marie Marsh, Jeff Metzler and Eric Sciotto.
