These past couple weeks have been HOT!! Almost too hot to even want to venture to the pool or beach! I had my five-year-old niece and almost four-year-old nephew over along with a friend for my almost ten-year-old son, to watch and review a very cool bunch of children’s DVDS. Here’s a look at these summertime fun DVDs!

My niece and nephew loved this one! It allowed them to see what returning to school after a long summer vacation would feel like. This seemed to help anticipate any worries they had about school in the Fall and make them see that the transition would be fairly seamless! Since they also watched it close to July 4th, they loved the episode with fireworks! Recommended for ages 3+.

The High Fructose Adventures of Annoying Orange: The Complete First Season
Delivering rip-roaring laughter in honor of Cartoon Network’s season two television premiere which occurred on May 16, the obnoxiously funny series, The High Fructose Adventures of Annoying Orange: The Complete First Season, is now out on DVD from The Collective and Gaiam Vivendi Entertainment. Starring the hugely popular YouTube comedian Toby Turner and featuring an array of guest stars, including Jane Lynch (“Glee”), Leah Remini (“The King of Queens”), Bret Michaels (“Rock of Love with Bret Michaels”) and Alice Cooper (Wayne’s World). With more than 1.3 billion views, Annoying Orange has expanded from a viral video to Web series, to Cartoon Network primetime and has become a true pop culture phenomenon.
I must admit, when I first found my son laughing hysterically to the YouTube clips of Annoying Orange, I banned him from watching them since they were more violent and emphasized distasteful humor. Once Cartoon Network picked up the story creation and produced a much more “toned down” version of the cartoon, I then allowed my son to watch the television series. I found that the cartoon version actually has some very relevant, factual information tied into the series.
I only allowed my son and his friend to watch this DVD, as it is rated TV-13. My son and his friend were rolling on the floor in laughter as they watched each episode! Because they now incorporate more educational information into each episode, I find that I am becoming less and less concerned about the content of the series. I even learned a little bit of history from one of the episodes!
The High Fructose Adventures of Annnoying Orange: The Complete First Season is packed with exclusive behind-the-scenes featurettes, a storyboard animatic and the very first Annoying Orange webisode. The DVD set includes all 30 episodes from the debut season.

After barely escaping, the Super Samurai must call upon the Shogun ancestors and their most powerful mega modes to fight their way through bugspraying Pestilox, giant Spitfangs and twin Papyrux in order to face their ultimate showdown with Serrator! And after the smoke clears, a battle with new Nighlok monster Fiera will reveal the Red Ranger’s long-lost secret and change the team forever!
I had to bring my son’s friend back to help me review this great DVD. The boys were glued to the couch! No snacks, no drinks, no interrupting, Mom! They were riveted. I’m becoming more and more familiar with the Power Ranger crew. I also must admit that I am liking their missions and their desire to work together more and more. This one will be a true hit if you have boys in your home!
