ROBIN’S SHOW RECOMMENDATION: HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON LIVE SPECTACULAR
HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON LIVE SPECTACULAR, inspired by the Academy Award® nominated DreamWorks Animation film, utilizes the full arena at Nassau Coleseum, maximizing every dimension of performance space to transport audiences into a mythical world of fire-breathing dragons who soar overhead. The state-of-the-art animatronic technology and large-scale cinematic projections interact with live actors to bring the story to life.
The live production combines fire-breathing action, adventure, heartfelt moments and laughter into an original story set in the mythical world of Vikings and wild dragons. Based on the book by Cressida Cowell, it centers on Hiccup, a Viking teenager who doesn’t fit in with his tribe’s longstanding tradition of heroic dragon slayers. Hiccup’s world is turned upside down when he encounters a dragon he calls, Toothless, that challenges him and his fellow Vikings to see the world from an entirely different point of view.
This show is really a sight to behold. I particularly loved it when the actors took rides on the flying dragons. And, my son loved the action of the dragons scorching the Vikings town, and their ongoing battles.
The story was touching, and the effects were dazzling! Despite a technical glitch that halted the show for 15 or so minutes, it didn’t miss a beat. The dinosaurs were nothing short of amazing and authentic-looking and acting, and I found myself wanting to get up close ‘n personal with Toothless. What it thrill it must be for the actors to soar on them. And, combined with the film projections on the floor and backdrop, you truly felt as if you were there. When Toothless was immersed under water, you were in the ocean with him.
This show was a unique and memorable experience! And, if you need a little escapism in your everyday life, buy a ticket to HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON LIVE SPECTACULAR.

Wish they had stayed around a few more days here…we wanted to see it so badly. Maybe they will come back again later on. Or we could go to Montreal, Lol!
