Caring For Your Skin During Pregnancy

Despite the fact that a large number of people, both men and women, have or will experience loose skin or scars to some degree, they continue to be a cause of frustration for many….especially for those with extensive stretch mark scarring.

Stretch marks are brightly colored lines or blotches on your skin caused by extra weight or swelling. Pregnancy makes women more prone. They indicate that your skin has swollen to accommodate a growing baby.

Although it’s difficult to totally avoid developing scars or loose skin, there is a stretch mark cream and other measures that might help serve as a preventative.

What Are Stretch Marks?

Stretch mark creams and laser resurfacing are the main reasons some celebrities don’t have loose skin scars. Scars occur on the mesoderm, or primary surface of the skin, which determines the shape of the epidermis. Stretch marks are created by fast biological changes that the epidermis is unable to keep up with, causing it to be stretched until it starts to break down.  They are largely caused by genetics, with up to 90% of people in some groups stating that they have these marks.

How To Avoid Stretch Marks?

Stretch marks affect up to half of the women who are pregnant, but nobody can predict who will get scars. There are, though, several circumstances that might raise your risk of developing stretch marks.

There are steps you can do to potentially  lower your risk…..

1.    Weight Control

Keep a moderate weight gain (approximately 20 to 35 pounds) and try to gain the weight gradually during the pregnancy. It will help if you consume a nutritious pregnancy diet. Stretch scars and loose skin can form when your skin breaks apart quickly as a result of fast weight gain.

Stretch marks or scars may also appear as a result of fast weight reduction. Stretch marks appear in certain people after physical growth, such as adolescence. Others, such as bodybuilders, become aware of them after making significant increases through exercise or the use of drugs.

Your best hope may be to control the rate at which your body changes.

2.    Stay Well Hydrated

Consuming plenty of water will help to keep your skin moisturized and flawless. Scarring is less common on smooth skin than on dry skin. Females should consume 74 ounces of water each day, according to a study.

Caffeinated drinks, including coffee and tea, may increase the likelihood of developing stretch marks. If you consume tea with caffeine, be sure to balance your fluid consumption with water, herbal teas, and other non-caffeinated beverages.


Childbirth is one of the most prevalent causes of loose skin in women. Scars and marks are common during pregnancy, with various estimates between 60% to 80% showing before birth.

Hormones may cause loose skin during childbirth, according to some experts. Estrogen and other hormones may increase in levels causing the skin to hold more water, which causes it to loosen and rip more easily when expanded.
