Four Things That Make Your Kid’s Room Awesome

Decorating a child’s room can be overwhelming. Although you may think they could get away with just the basics, you’ll eventually start to notice all of their belongings, and you’ll soon realize that you need to be creative. Your child probably spends a decent amount of time in his or her room. It’s not just a place to sleep; it’s a place for them to play, create, and imagine, and when you need to decorate their room, you need to keep all of this in mind.

You also need to realize that when you shop for child’s furniture, your son or daughter, depending on their age, will have certain items they want and certain items they need. In order to ensure that your shopping and decorating ideas are kid-approved, you need to make sure that you invest in the following four things that will make your child’s room totally awesome.

1. Loft Bed
Your child’s bed takes up a decent amount of space in his or her room, and giving your child plenty of floor space is important for those toys, electronics, and other items they accumulate over the years. By giving your child a loft bed instead of a traditional on-the-floor bed, you will give them plenty of floor space to accommodate their needs, whether for school or play. Plus, a loft bed looks so cool, and it’s something that children will think is totally awesome, especially since it’s not something that many children can say they have. And if you really want to make the loft bed extra cool, add a slide to it. Your child will be sure to love that.

2. Bedding
Your child has certain things that he or she likes, and it’s important to give them something they truly enjoy for their room. If your child has a theme, or even if they don’t, make sure to buy cool children’s bedding that your child will truly love. Since the bed is usually the focal point of the room, having fun bedding will truly bring the room together. Plus, your child will not only enjoy looking at the awesome bedding, but they’ll also be more anxious to go to bed and sleep with their cool new bedding too.

3. Storage
Although your child may not think that storage is cool, they will if you think outside the box. Make shelves out of old baseball bats and baseballs for your kid’s room, or take traditional shelves and turn them into a chevron pattern instead of straight. Give them a closet organizer to turn their closet into a place for clothes and toys. Make a “zoo cage” out of cardboard and rope to hold your child’s stuffed animals. Buy storage units that can go under the bed. Use magnetic paint so your child can keep their matchbox cars or other metal objects on the wall. If you give your child a cool way to store their toys, they’ll love their room and be more eager to clean up.

4. Lights
Your child needs lights to be able to see their toys and their homework, but that doesn’t mean that every light has to be bright. Allow your child to have a little ambiance in their room. Hang Christmas lights around the room to give them a fun night light for when they go to bed. Put star and moon glow-in-the-dark stickers on their ceiling to make them feel like they’re in space. Or you can even buy a colored light bulb and put it in a desk lamp so that they have a fun color to use for play. Your child will enjoy being able to turn off the lights and use the fun lights to expand their imagination.
