Jetti Poles & City Bonfires: Innovative Products I Recommend by Robin Gorman Newman

Periodically I like to blog about cool items that catch up eye.

Here’s a couple of my latest innovative and fun discoveries.

Since the Pandemic, I have not felt comfortable working out at a gym, and I’m not always the best at staying consistently on track with an at home plan.  But, I recently learned of Jetti Poles and they got me excited.

Founded by Joyce Shulman and her athlete husband Eric Cohen, they created the company 99 Walks (makers of Jetti Poles), with the vision of “having a community that was inclusive of all members and celebrated the beautiful diversity of body sizes, fitness levels, abilities, ages, races, ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations, religious beliefs, and political leanings.  Their goal being to help EVERYONE get healthy, happy, and chase their dreams TOGETHER.”

Jetti Poles are precisely designed with custom high-quality materials, manufactured entirely in the USA and are suitable for both the casual and avid walker. You can hold them like trekking poles and walk, use them for stability when performing movements like squats and lunges, or carry them by the middle grips to perform bicep curls, shoulder presses and more.  They feature equally weighted tops and bottoms for balanced swing.  Each weighs just over one pound.  And, they have center hand grips for hundreds of movements and exercises. Sticky Rubber Feet offer solid traction on roads and paths. There are three sizes available, so you get to choose what works best for you, given your height.

Each set of pre-order Jetti Poles comes with a free carry bag.  And, there is free shipping with every order.  Plus, you get a one month membership to the 99 Walks App.

If you need a custom size, you can let them know.

From their website…..

Walking with patent-pending Jetti Poles is proven to HELP YOU:

  • Burn up to 40% more calories than plain walking
  • Reduce stress on your joints
  • Increase your stability
  • Provide lower perceived effort
  • Work more muscles, including your arms, chest back and abs

I put them to the test both in my home and neighborhood, and really enjoyed.  I have a permanent knee injury, and they made me feel more comfortable and stable.  And, as a weight lifting fan, this is a cool way to do exercises beyond using traditional dumbbells, which I would not wanna take on a walk.

The 99 Walks App features Classes (Indoor and outdoor options led by five Jetti-certified coaches), Podcasts and includes such topics as Mindset and Books.  You can join or create a team which can help with accountability, plus offer camaraderie.  You can also track yourself and set your own goals.  The App is very user friendly and easy to navigate.  I like knowing there is a sense of community, and easy accessibility to varied virtual classes and motivational talks.

City Bonfires is another company I just discovered.

City Bonfires are personal and portable fire pits that are handmade with recyclable steel tins, non-toxic soy wax, and eco-friendly, all-natural biodegradable briquettes. These portable bonfires are made with love in Maryland with American-made materials by two dads whose jobs were impacted by COVID-19.

There are many to choose from including hot chocolate kits and s’mores kits.  There are theme City Bonfires for birthdays and beyond…and even custom corporate options.  They are lightweight and easy to light.

City Bonfires has a total burn time of 3 to 5 hours.  To extinguish, you simply cover the flame with the lid.  City Bonfire is not refillable, however it is reusable. You can light your City Bonfires, extinguish the flame with the lid and then relight it.  Once the wax and briquettes are gone you may recycle the tin.  They are intended for outdoor use.

Given that my son recently celebrated his 19th birthday, we had the opportunity to sample this kit, and he really enjoyed.  As a volunteer firefighter, he found it particularly cool and unlike any gift he had ever received.  I was glad to come up with something that was memorable for him.

You can follow them on Instagram @citybonfires.  Good Housekeeping recognized City Bonfires as one of the best outdoor s’mores makers of 2022…..and that comes as no surprise.

Note: While I was gifted product, all opinions are my own.
