Peeking Out by Peggy Bogaard-Lapp
It’s spring in Colorado, and as usual the weather has been unpredictable. The tulips have chosen to peek out early, after a short period of warm days and nights. Their mistake, however, since we have had several wet snows that covered the tulip stalks completely. Blooms will be fewer this year. Timing is everything – knowing when to peek out, knowing when to hold tight and wait for the right moment. I feel like I am smarter than those tulips – and have waited for the right time to peek out, to step forward into my future. I am very excited to be on board the blogger team at MLTS. It seems like the timing is right for me – I’ve peeked out and it’s like the sun is shining on my face, welcoming me to the writing world.
I live in the suburbs of Denver, with my husband Mark and daughter Erica, who is nine. Add in my two grown step-daughters and one six year old grandson, it’s all pretty normal. I work part time at my daughter’s school as an Instructional Paraprofessional, assisting the kindergarten teacher in the classroom. This has been an interesting path as I would have never seen myself working with children!
I have been an active writer for over 30 years. I have written a lot, publishing infrequently, but always moving forward. Recently, however, my writing is more focused, purposeful. That is what has brought me here to MLTS, to sharing what I see and feel, to my travel on the road of my life.
I hope to bring some insight to you through this blog about parenting and education, with a sprinkle of camping and fishing, and of course life as a later mom. I was 37 when Erica was born, and I was lucky to have the “what to expect when you are expecting” pregnancy – by the book, chapter and page! But as we all know, nothing is that simple or perfect. I have plenty to share on that as well.

Life as a later mom is fantastic. I was 30 when I had my first and 33 with my second. It’s nice to have life experience before you start having babies. I can’t wait to read what mor you have to say.

Congrats, Peggy! Looking forward to following your blog. Like S. Davis, above, I was 30 and 33 when I had my kids. Loved life before, and am relishing every moment as a mom now! Let the story telling begin!
